"Hello, we are coming for distributing bread. We put the bread on the table and you can take one piece when you off-duty, is it ok?" We kindly asked the cleaners. "That's good, thank you very much. We will help finish all of them!" The cleaners' sincere smiles and gratitude are the best returns to the volunteers.

Food Commons Foundation and the district partnering teams always receive diversified excess food donation. Earlier, the Food Common @NT (Yeun Long and Tin Shui Wai)’s Tin Shui Wai Community Development Network had received the donation of baking tart crusts via Feeding Hong Kong. The team had decided to share those baking tart crusts with a secondary school in Tuen Mun and made the delicious fruit tarts by those potential abandoned food during their home economics lesson. The teachers and students were happy with practising environmentally friendly measure by making use of the leftover food to make delicious desserts.

During Chinese New Year, our volunteers were still committed to collecting the bread that could be recycled, in order to reduce the wastage. On the first day of Lunar New Year, our volunteers had also managed to receive the leftover New Year rice cakes so they immediately distributed to those in need, to share the festive joy with them. Those received the cakes were overwhelmed with happiness and expressed their gratitude towards the unpaid volunteers' efforts.

When our volunteers realised the street sleeps living in the areas we get used to distribute food were treated impolitely, we were worried them very much and hoped to share the hot meal boxes with them to send our sympathy.

In this eve of Chinese New Year, Food Commons Foundation continued to join hands with the district partnering teams to accept food donation. One of the food donator, a department of Hong Kong Monetary Authority donated a batch of meaningful chocolates to our district partnering team, Women Service Association to distribute to the members in the neighbourhood to share the festive joy.
