Food Commons Foundation actively promotes the concept of saving food and helping people through publicity, develops a community surplus food sharing network, and cooperates with community organizations and volunteers to collect surplus food resources from markets, restaurants, and merchants every day. After proper sorting, screening and processing of recycled food, it will be distributed to those in need in the community. The partners and volunteers are located in different regions with the common goal of saving food and reducing waste.
The Foundation raises the necessary working capital and recruits human resources for the leftover food sharing action organizations in various districts to support more food rescue actions. The beneficiaries of these food recycling programs include: the elderly, low-income people/families, CSSA recipients/families, the unemployed, the disabled, the sick, children, minorities, disadvantaged groups, etc.

The above-mentioned partners go to different service areas to collect food donated by market vendors, retailers, etc. daily. These foods that are still safe for consumption will be discarded in landfills, screened and distributed to people in need in the community for free. The project can not only reduce food waste and reduce the load on landfills, but also help families in need, create employment opportunities, and benefit many parties.
