Food Wise School Seminar

At the invitation of S.K.H.Ho Chak Wan Primary School in Tsing Yi, a representative from the Food Commons Foundation held a food waste reduction seminar on Tuesday, sharing information about food waste and its importance with the students. The students were very engaged and attentive throughout the seminar, and we hope that this event will help integrate the concept of food waste reduction into their daily lives, promoting a culture of reducing food waste together!

Food Commons Volunteer Activity – Visiting O.Park 1

Food Commons volunteers are dedicated to the action of saving bread and meal boxes and helping others. Yesterday, they visited Hong Kong's first large-scale organic resources recovery center O.Park1. O.Park1 is the first facility in Hong Kong to convert food waste into electricity, integrating biodecomposition, energy recovery and organic fertilizer production. The center was built to reduce organic waste in Hong Kong while providing sustainable energy and resources recovery solutions. The daily food waste processing capacity is 200 tonnes. 

慰勞辛勤的清潔工

「姨姨你好,我哋嚟派麵包㗎!」清潔工看見義工,馬上便走過來:「你哋每個禮拜都嚟,真係辛苦哂你哋。麵包放低喺檯面先,我做完嘢就會食㗎喇!」清潔工感恩的話語份外令人窩心。

小善行大滿足

清明·氣清景明

明天是二十四節氣之一的「清明 」,也是春季的第五個節氣,為仲春與暮春之交。到了清明這個時節,氣溫升高,草木萌動、百花盛開,呈現春和景明之象,這亦是春遊的好時候。飲食方面建議減甘增辛,盡量少吃海水魚、羊肉、雞肉等發物,多吃溫性食物如紅蘿蔔、芫荽和茴香等。隨著「時令」蔬菜的變化,選擇合時蔬菜的好處是,它們在最合適的時候種植和收割,所需農藥會較少,味道也較好;而由於「當造」,產量較多,價格也會較低。
