一份善意 雙倍温暖

寒風突然來襲,對露宿者而言是難捱的日子。義工拿着一盒盒熱騰騰的飯盒,到露宿者經常岀沒的地方,希望能為他們帶來一些温暖。「謝謝你!」露宿者收到熱飯後不忘道謝。小小的行動能夠幫助別人又可以減少浪費,義工也倍感溫暖。

賀年食品共享 勿以善小而不為

春回大地,農曆新年都已過了一段時間,但若過年時收到太多賀年食品,仲未食晒,又唔想浪費,可以捐贈分享給其他人享用。早前就有位大埔區的有心街坊,捐贈了一罐笑口棗給我們,由同區街坊義工接收並分享給當區清潔工友,同享笑口。惜食助人的精神在於不浪費食物,將食物分享予人享用,不必介懷食物多寡,只要未開封、未過期,我哋都會盡量安排共享。

「驚蟄」是二十四節氣中第三個節氣,也是春季的第三個節氣,標誌著春季仲春的開始。驚蟄前後天氣轉暖,雨水也開始增多。而驚蟄期間的天氣變化較大,需注意冷暖變化,預防如感冒等的季節性疾病。飲食方面宜清溫平淡,建議選擇菠菜和西芹等的新鮮蔬菜,盡量少吃刺激性、油膩和酸性的食物,隨著「時令」蔬菜的變化,選擇合時蔬菜的好處是,它們在最合適的時候種植和收割,所需農藥會較少,味道也較好;而由於「當造」,產量較多,價格也會較低。

Cherishing food and helping others, killing two birds with one stone

“Hello, granny! We’re here to give out unsold bread. Did you get some cardboards today?” Volunteers often saw her sitting and resting on the roadside and could not help but cared about her conditions. “Today I didn’t get much. I’ll take a break and work again. Thank you for the bread. I’ll eat it after work.” Through food sharing action can waste be reduced and can we care about the people around us. Why don’t we do it?  

Simple yet the happiest returns

"Hello, we are coming for distributing bread. We put the bread on the table and you can take one piece when you off-duty, is it ok?" We kindly asked the cleaners. "That's good, thank you very much. We will help finish all of them!" The cleaners' sincere smiles and gratitude are the best returns to the volunteers.

Food Commons Foundation and the district partnering teams always receive diversified excess food donation. Earlier, the Food Common @NT (Yeun Long and Tin Shui Wai)’s Tin Shui Wai Community Development Network had received the donation of baking tart crusts via Feeding Hong Kong. The team had decided to share those baking tart crusts with a secondary school in Tuen Mun and made the delicious fruit tarts by those potential abandoned food during their home economics lesson. The teachers and students were happy with practising environmentally friendly measure by making use of the leftover food to make delicious desserts.
