The power of an individual may seem to be little, but with the contribution and effort of every volunteer, every week we can continuously collect and distribute food to those in need, reducing the city’s food waste and caring for the grassroots. Bringing together the power of each volunteer do we realize how powerful we can be!

In Hong Kong, every day about 3,000 tonnes of food waste are sent to landfills while most of them are still consumable. However, in the community, there are over a million elderly people and grassroots who are deprived of food.
We hope that through public promotion, not only can we develop a leftover food sharing network, but also rescue food and help those in need.

“Hello, granny! How’s your leg?” A volunteered kindly asked.
“It’s so kind of you. Thank you”. Granny replied and was all smiles.
Last week, the editor joined volunteers to distribute bread in Fanling district and witnessed that not only did volunteers gave out bread to a granny, but also cared for her physical conditions. Through simple conversations, care and warmth spread to the heart.
“Please eat the bread soon. Don’t let it sit there for too long!”

We are delighted to let you know more about our organization through the platform of ACS.

Summer is not over, but autumn commences
Today is the thirteenth solar term of the 24 solar terms, autumn commences. It is also the first solar term of autumn. There is a saying that the beginning of autumn is not autumn and it becomes cool only when white dew comes. It means that autumn has not arrived yet. Now we are in the last period of dog days. It continues to be hot and sultry.
It is suitable to exercise and sweat to remove dampness in the body. For food, it is advised to eat less hot and spicy food and take in more food that can remove inner heat and moisturize the body. e.g. bok choy, egg plants and cucumbers. Seasonal crops change with time. Consuming plants in season gives the benefit of less pesticides when the vegetables are planted and harvested at the best time. The taste is better, too. Also, as it is in season, the production is more while the price is less.
